History of Okatsune

1880

Oka Tsuneyoshi Shoten is a sugar wholesaler established here.

1939

The company was incorporated and became Okatsune Shoten Co., Ltd.

1951

Started flour wholesale business as a side business

1960

Koto branch office opened in Kinshicho, Sumida Ward

1970

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the company's founding, the company name was changed to Okatsune Co., Ltd.

Yamate branch office opened in Nakamura Minami, Nerima Ward

1972

Osaka branch opened

1979

Opened the food department and established a cold storage and processing plant for shiitake mushrooms.

1983

Moved Koto Branch and Meiwa Transport to the old Matsushima workshop in Edogawa-ku. Moved to Kofunecho temporary office due to new head office building construction.

1984

Head office building completed, move-in and unveiling

1986

The food wholesale sales division was separated and established as Okatsune Shoji Co., Ltd.

1987

President of Okatsune Co., Ltd. and chairman of Okatsune Shoji Co., Ltd., Tsuneyoshi Oka III, passed away. Ettalong Enterprises, a subsidiary of Okatsune Shoji Co., Ltd., was established in Hong Kong.

1990

President Kiichiro Oka succeeds the name of the fourth generation Tsuneyoshi Oka

1991

ShinMaywa Sugar Co., Ltd. refrigerated warehouse completed.

Meiwa Transportation Co., Ltd. Funabashi Office opened

1992

Okatsune Co., Ltd. opens non-life insurance agency business

1994

Okatsune Co., Ltd. opens the CVS Seikatsu Saika Nihonbashi Honcho Okatsune store as its retail division.

1999

Koto branch office relocated to Kanamachi, Katsushika-ku. Meiwa Transportation Co., Ltd. Edogawa office closed and relocated to Shinminato, Mihama-ku, Chiba-shi.

2000

Acquired Liquor Shop Hirakawa store and opened CVS Poplar Hirakawacho store
Chairman Oka Tsuneo passed away. Food Salon held at Royal Park Hotel to commemorate 120 years since the company was founded.

2001

Koto and Yamate branches are converted into sales offices.

2003

Okatsune Sugar Co., Ltd. is established. ShinMaywa Sugar Co., Ltd. closes its factory and is absorbed into Okatsune Sugar Co., Ltd. The Koto and Yamate sales offices are integrated and the Kanto branch is opened.

2004

Liquor Shop Hirakawa Branch absorbs Okatsune Co., Ltd.'s Lifestyle Saika Nihonbashi Honcho Okatsune Branch.

2005

Established Noren Co., Ltd.

2006

Noren Co., Ltd. launches Japanese sweets catalogue business "Washin Denshin"
Sold Liquor Shop Hirakawa Branch to Poplar Co., Ltd.

The operation of Seikatsu Saika Nihonbashi Honcho Okatsune store was transferred to ORS Co., Ltd. The Osaka branch was relocated to Ote-dori, Chuo-ku, Osaka City.

2011

Kanto branch office relocated to Shibamata, Katsushika-ku, and reorganized into Kanto sales office.

2013

The fourth Tsuneyoshi Oka became chairman and Keitaro Oka became president.

2014

Okatsune Co., Ltd. and Okatsune Shoji Co., Ltd. merged and the company name was changed to Okatsune Shoji Co., Ltd.

2016

Kanto sales office moved to Nihonbashi head office

2022

Okuzaki Shoji Co., Ltd. joins the group.

2023

Osaka branch office relocated to Minami-ku, Kyoto

Changed the branch name to Kansai Branch.

2024

Group company restructuring

Okatsune Holdings Co., Ltd. was established as the parent company, and Okatsune Shoji Co., Ltd., Okatsune Sugar Co., Ltd., Meiwa Transportation Co., Ltd., and Okuzaki Shoji Co., Ltd. were made wholly owned subsidiaries, strengthening governance.
